I had such a fun time! I came up with an idea to connect bicycle messengers with local business owners on Thursday night. I pitched the idea friday night at the Kansas City Startup Weekend ( with a little help from my friends ) and started from scratch on Saturday morning. Sunday night, we presented the idea and launched our site. It was awesome! Here are some highlights:

According to this survey 1% of people in Overland Park Kansas ride or walk to work.  This is absolutely ridiculous!   The Great Potato Famine of Ireland should have been a lesson to us all.  When a society is relying on a single good to sustain life, the risk of life increases exponentially. Akin the nationalist movement in Ireland , it is time to rethink our socioeconomic tendencies in America.  We need to start consuming responsibly!! There is no mystery in the oil markets, we desperately want there goods and the producers will ask a premium price; so far the American people have coincided to the cost.

I understand that this recent pinch in the oil markets has spurred the scientific community into a hot pursuit of clean energy, but perhaps we as citizens could help out as well.  I challenge you to track your gasoline consumption. When you are paying for the gasoline, ask for a receipt.  Keep a close watch on how much you are consuming, I guarantee you that Exxon Mobile know how much you spend on their products.

If i can not find a good gasoline budget application, I think that i will write one. Please comment on what sort of software application would help people start realizing how much oil they consume.
